Health Care Aide (HCA)
*To prevent exposures or outbreaks, we are unable to accommodate candidates who are working at any other senior homes, Long Term Care (LTC) or health care facilities. Please only apply if you are looking for casual shifts at one location.*

Provides competent, direct personal care to the assigned residents. This includes all dietary duties as assigned to ensure the nutritional needs of residents’ are being met. -
Provides safe medication assistance of regularly scheduled medications to their assigned residents. -
Provides light housekeeping and laundry duties as assigned. -
Participates in the development, implementation, evaluation and revision of the resident care plan. Carries out all required activities as assigned to provide holistic care to residents such as dietary and recreational duties. -
Performs restricted activities of rectal intervention once competency of the activity has been assessed and supervised by a regulated nurse. -
Observes the residents’ physical condition, behavior and mood and promptly reports any changes in the residents status to LPN and/or Client Care Coordinator. -
Ensures effective, timely documentation in accordance with organizational, legislative and legal requirements. -
Complies with the organizational, policies and procedures, continuing care health service standards, accommodation standards, and relevant legislation and regulations. -
Responds and reports all concerns and complaints from residents, families and staff to the LPN in accordance with the concern resolution process. -
Responds and reports all unusual incidents and critical, incidents on the assigned unit to the LPN. Initiates appropriate corrective action within the scope of practice to address the immediate concern. -
Reports staff performance issues to the LPN or DAL Manager.

Graduated from a recognized Health Care Aide program recognized by the Alberta Health Services. -
Must have completed a recognized Medication Assistance course. -
Currently registered as an active HCA with Alberta Health. -
Ability to read and write fluently in the English language. -
Experience working with the elderly, chronically ill, mental health or the disabled is preferred. -
Demonstrated skills in communication, teamwork and customer service. -
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi task is essential in this position. -
Awareness of accident and injury prevention, hazard identification and control: adherence to safe work practices and procedures is essential in this position. -
Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to person-centered care.

The work requires occasional transporting of wheelchairs, infrequent transferring of residents, lifting boxes/supplies, pushing carts, bending and stooping at wheelchair or bedside height. -
There are frequent periods of walking throughout the facility.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
-
Licensed Practical Nurse, experience in Assisted Living is preferred. -
Current membership in good standing with CLPNA. -
Demonstrated skills in leadership, communication, teamwork, concern resolution process and customer service. -
Strong organizational skills. -
Awareness of accident and injury prevention, hazard identification and control, adherence to safe work practice and procedures is essential in this position. -
Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to person-centered care. -
Demonstrated commitment to the values of Golden Age Manor is essential in this position. -
Demonstrates ongoing competence utilizing knowledge, skill, judgment, and evidence based practice in caring for the resident.

Provides support to the residents and families in an environment that promotes a state of wellness, independence and person-centered care. -
The License Practical Nurse shall work in accordance to the legislation as outlined by the Health Professions Act (HPA) -
Assesses, plans, develops, implements, communicates and evaluates assigned residents to identify the changing care needs to ensure ongoing quality care is provided. -
Supervises the HCA’s and other non-regulated health care staff to ensure all care provided is in accordance with the resident’s plan of care, organizational policies and procedures, continuing care health service standards, accommodation standards, and relevant legislation and regulations. -
Collaborates with the DAL Manager and/or Client Care Coordinator to ensure that the resident care has been assigned to appropriate, competent nursing staff. Supervises those restricted, activities that are supported by Golden Age Manor to be assigned to HCA’s and other non-regulated health care staff. -
Demonstrates knowledge in applying safe, competent, ethical, clinical evidence-based nursing practice, safe medication administration, and effective, timely documentation in accordance with the organizational, legislative and legal requirements.
